New Tribes Mission - Papua New Guinea

Douglas09.JPG

Dave and Carla worshipped with us at Big Woods while in training at New Tribes Jersey Shore. During this time, they were a real blessing as they worked with our youth. The Douglas’s have two boys and a girl, Brandon, Austin and Ashley. Dave is a pilot and his responsibilities include training pilots new to the country. Carla is busy as a secretary in the mission elementary school and enjoys the interaction with the children. Please pray for the adjustments for the children and safety for Dave and the other pilots.

News Updates

This article was written by a friend of ours who works with the Inapang people. We think you will enjoy reading it.

Your browser may not support display of this image. Earlier this year the British Weekly Telegraph newspaper carried the headline; “Dozens of species found in ‘lost paradise’.” There was tremendous excitement over fifty new types of spiders, three frogs and a striped gecko. These were discovered by a group of scientists in the jungles of Papua New Guinea. None of these species had been previously documented. It is amazing to think that there are still new animal and insect species being discovered. A good reminder of the awesome power of our Creator God!

But mankind is different from the animals. God created man in His own image. We have a soul and one day we will all stand before God. All of mankind will spend eternity in either heaven or hell. What if the headline read; “Dozens of tribes remain lost in earthly paradise.” Would this cause a tremendous stir in the Church? It should, because it is true! There are around 400 tribes in Papua New Guinea alone that still have no Scriptures in their language. We personally know of 15 tribes that have no known gospel witness, and our hearts are heavily burdened for them. Who will go to the hot, swampy, lowland areas? Who will come over and help them find the truth? Who will point them to Christ?

“Dozens of Inapang found by Christ and on the way to true paradise.” This will never be a national headline, but it is also true! They can now rejoice because their names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life! All the hardships along the way pale into insignificance compared to the joy of seeing the Inapang transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light. Mankind’s excitement over fifty spiders, three frogs and a striped gecko, doesn’t even begin to compare with the rejoicing by the angels in heaven over all who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ and were saved!

Thanks so much for partnering with us as we assist the church planting effort in Papua New Guinea and see lives changed for eternity.

In Him,

Dave, Carla, Brandon, Austin and Ashley Douglas
