Big Woods exists to help people Know Christ, learn to Grow in Christ, and live to Show Christ.

How Big Woods Began
Big Woods was started as Big Woods Chapel by Jeff & Elaine Lewis in August 1984 as a tool to reach college students and the community.  The Lewis’ were followed by Bill & Kitty Murray in 1988.  Pastor Ted and Linda Justice was called in 1995.  To accomplish Knowing Christ, Growing in Christ and Showing Christ the church has developed  LIFE groups, a strong Women's ministry, a burgeoning men's ministry, a full college ministry, children's and teen ministries as well as events that meet the needs of people in the area.  God miraculously blessed the church with the present building which we desire to use for dynamic worship, growing disciples and hosting events to help the community and show Christ.  Under the ministry of Pastor Ted, and as a result of God’s gracious hand, the church has grown from 30 to now nearly 300 in average worship attendance.  As an outgrowth of the original college ministry, on-going college minstry is important to Big Woods and we have partnered with the NAMB Mission Service Corps to bring Jason Ritz to Lock Haven as a campus missionary at Lock Haven University.

Where We Are Going  
God has blessed in the past and we wait expectantly for His blessings now and in the future. We have a dream of seeing 1,000 people from the area joyfully worshipping God and ministering through LIFE groups, men's and women's groups and ministry teams. As we continue to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ crucified and resurrected, to make disciples, and live radically obedient lives, we feel confident that God will make this happen. This is a wonderful journey we are on. We want you to come with us.
